How Can Playing A Game Change Someone s Life Essay
How can playing a game change someoneââ¬â¢s life? People from the outside looking in often think sports are merely meaningless competitions with no end result other than a winner and a loser. Although I love to attain the victory in every competition, I know there is more to sports than what the stat sheets display. They can change your life if you transfer what you learn on the court or field into real life situations. Basketball has taught me many things including working with others, persevering through difficult circumstances, and learning to overcome past mistakes. One particular game my sophomore year in the regional semifinals against LaPoynor made me realize what the game was actually teaching me. Excitement overflowed the huge locker room. My team and I had been waiting for this day since the beginning of the season. My team had confidence that we deserved to be in this game because of the blood, sweat, and tears we poured into every practice, game, and workout that winte r and early spring. Lacking two victories to reach our goal, the state tournament in San Antonio, the Lady Flyers appeared as our only obstacle. I competed against their point guard since elementary. She played quickly, perceptively, and skillfully, but we had prepared to shut her down. The music resounded through the speakers in the locker room as I stared at the floor envisioning what I needed to accomplish to defeat my opponent.
